CRITERIA FOR GRADES:
Paper x10
3 - A good overview of the topic, detailed information, includes historically significant information, goes beyond information from textbook, research is evident, put in the words of the student, meets all of the above requirements
2- needs more detail, some significant information is excluded
1 - poorly written, little significant information, little information beyond what is in textbook, or much of the paper is simply copied from other sources
Mechanics x3
3- 4- 6 pages (not counting title or bibliography page, one inch margins, font size twelve or less), typed, double spaced, includes bibliography and documentation, fewer than 4 grammatical or mechanical errors, uses at least three sources, meets all of above requirements
2 less than 4 pages , 4-5 errors, does not meet above requirements, over 7 pages
1 more than 5 errors, meets few if any of the above requirements
 
Length of presentation x2
3 12 minutes
2 10-11 minutes
1 less than 10 minutes, over 15 minutes
 
Content and manner of presentation: X3
3 presentation contains specific and historically significant information, conversational tone, prior preparation is evident (little if any is read )
2 needs to include better information, much is read, need to be better prepared
1 most is read, contains poor information, little if any preparation is evident
 
Visual Aid x3
3 Adds to the presentation, shows effort and imagination, meets all requirements
2 Unclear how it relates to the presentation, shows little effort, one requirement not met
1 poorly done, little effort, meets few requirements
0 not done


Anyone not ready on the assigned day will lose one letter grade for each date the presentation is late. Any student absent on the day  of his/her presentation will give it the day of return, provided the absence is excused and can be made-up.
