After the war, there was a question of how the country would be run.
There were two main groups:
federalists - those in favor of the constitution and a srtong national government
anti-federalists - those suspicious of the constitution and a strong national government
Anti federalists believed that with the constitution the states would lose power, and as a result freedom. They believed that liberty culd only survive in small repbulics where people could watch their leaders
